BIOGRAPHY

His music has been described as Soul/ Funk /Gospel with a singing style that crosses many genres.

Keither Florence was born in Wichita, Kansas, the ninth of ten children. He is the father of six children. His oldest son, Keither Jr. is his band director and producer.

Keither Florence has pastored The Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Wichita for the past 30 years. He also served as President of the Kansas General Missionary Baptist State Convention. Keither has always been musically inclined. At the tender age of nine he borrowed .25¢ from his brother Richard to go along with the $1.25 he already had. He used this money to record his first record, "Popping Popcorn All Night," at Joy Land Amusement Park. Being a part of such a large family, popcorn was the most economical snack there was. Of course, his older brothers and sisters found the song to be very amusing.

It wasn't until 12 years later that Keither rekindled his love for writing music. While attending Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 70's, he penned some of his greatest songs, including Future, Down Here on the Ground, Free, Take Time, Judgement Day and I Love You Lord. The increase in his family size forced Keither to put his music plans on hold for the time being.

Now in the present time — and after being a member of groups such as the Mastertones and Krishna — Keither Florence is singing professionally as a gospel solo artist. His music has been described as Soul/ Funk /Gospel with a singing style that crosses many genres. Take a listen for yourself at KeitherFlorence.com.
